Flamenco Dance Performance & Short Lessons
Our program features international Flamenco instructor and performer, Ana Montes! Ana studied flamenco overseas with many of the most well-known teachers and artists as well as classical ballet and Spanish folk dance. She performed professionally in Spain, Europe and Mexico with Ballet Espanol del Camborio, Ballet Espanol de Fernando Romero of Madrid, among others. In the West Coast, she has danced in clubs and theaters and with Rosa Montoya Bailes Flamencos of San Francisco.
Join us for an interactive and lively performance and class that will be fun for the least- and most- active members of Newcomers. There will be Flamenco arm and hand movements, footwork, and yelling Ole’, as well as learning Flamenco ‘ Palmas’—clapping patterns that are intricate and fascinating.
This 45 minute program is an event for everyone—gorgeous flamenco guitar music, swirling dances, rhythm techniques with learning opportunities.
The performance will be followed by questions and answers.
