Newcomers offers more than 30 regularly scheduled activities, including games, book clubs, hiking, dining, happy hours, exploring the community. Most activities meet monthly year-round, and many are offered virtually via Zoom.

The Newcomers Board of Directors continues to carefully follow the CDC and WA state guidelines. At this time we will continue our activities on Zoom, and will review our position as the guidelines evolve. We are eager to meet when it is responsibly possible!

CONNECT & BOND
Everyone is invited to join in the birthday festivities -- even if it’s not your birthday! Four times a year we celebrate and enjoy each other's company Naturally, we share our culinary expertise with enticing snacks, and toast one another with a mimosa or coffee. New members are especially welcome.
We check on one another and see how everyone is doing. Let's "come as we are" and spread positive vibes! Every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. and Saturdays at 3:00 p.m. (Z)
A great opportunity to get to know your fellow Newcomers better! Currently on 4th Fridays at 11:00 a.m. on ZOOM. (Z)
EAT, DRINK & MINGLE
Epicureans is a new group that meets for lunch on the last Friday of the month. Members also share themed recipes on ZOOM. They experience a different area restaurant each month and mingle with fellow Newcomers. New members and partners are welcome. (Z)
Happy Cookers (at capacity) samples different cuisines from countries around the world, as well as regional American specialties. Members take turns hosting, coordinating menus, and cooking ahead of the group gathering.
Petit Gourmet (at capacity) likes to mix it up, figuratively and literally. The activities have ranged from a professional paella making lesson, dumpling tasting at a wonderful restaurant, and a Downton Abbey High Tea at a member’s home. A love of cooking, interesting experiences and great conversation is the roux blending it all together.
Enjoy a monthly 'happy hour' with the Eastside Crew over beverages and snacks at Kirkland Anthony's. Members don't need to live in Kirkland to join this happy Crew on the 1st Wednesday of the month.
Pub Crawl is a great opportunity to meet members and their guests. The group has a very informal gathering at a pub around town, partake in beverages, and then have dinner at the chosen pub. They meet on 1st Sundays at 4:00 pm. (Z)
Interested people meet in randomly chosen groups of eight to share food at each other’s homes at mutually agreeable times once a month.
This activity is about learning and celebrating the world of wine. Every 4th Sunday of the month we have a wine tasting, about a wine or a region, sometimes with a wine educator, or with different wineries and/or wine vendors, so that we can learn about wines from different perspectives. (Z)
EXPLORE & ENJOY
Activities are initiated by members and turned into adventures! From Seahawks fans suppers to concerts, quilt shows, Sip & Shop, Meet The Author (and more), we gather and share all the fun and beauty of our gorgeous Puget Sound backyard. (Z)
This fun-loving social group may include spouses or significant others. Past events include BBQs, live theater, wine tasting, rafting trips, weekend away, community service day, game night, special dinner group event, holiday dinner dance and much more. Most activities occur on the 3rd Saturday each month.
GET CREATIVE TOGETHER
This group is about having fun learning and sharing knowledge about art and crafts. Participants work on projects together while enjoying the company of fellow art and crafts lovers. Meets every 1st and 3rd Mondays at 10:30 a.m. (Z)
Create something beautiful while spending a relaxed morning with friends. We talk about knitting, yarn, patterns, recipes, books, travel, entertainment, and more! 2nd and 4th Mondays at 10:00 a.m. (Z)
PLAY TIME: CARDS & GAMES
Euchre is an excellent social and simple card game. Currently members meet on ZOOM and use an app to play the game. Participants just need some snacks and drinks at home and that's it! It is a great opportunity for small talk, and a wonderful way for people to get acquainted. A fun night of laughter and strategic play is guaranteed while "rotating" tables and partners (yes, even virtually!) (Z)
Mah Jongg is a game of skill, strategy, and a little bit of luck never hurts. Groups meet regularly to play using the National Mah Jongg League, Inc. rules. Groups usually start at 10 am and play for several hours, taking a lunch break (BYO sack lunch). There are various meeting times and some are on ZOOM.

READ & SHARE
Each group is comprised of 8 -15 members to keep the conversations focused. Everyone has the ability to voice their thoughts about the book. Some groups have formal discussion leaders; other groups are much less informal. All groups have fun engaging in lively discussions.

- 1st Tuesday - Nonfiction Book Group: The 1st Tuesday of the month finds this group at a North West Seattle restaurant. (Z)
- 3rd Wednesday - Readers Choice Book Group: For discussions, members open their homes on a rotating basis, or the group may meet at a restaurant. (Z)
- 4th Wednesday Crime and Mystery Book Group: This is a new book group. The kick-off meeting was held on June 15, 2020. (Z)
- 4th Wednesday Kirkland Book Group: This book group meets in Kirkland. (Z)
STAY ACTIVE & HAVE FUN
Newcomers and guests/spouses are invited to meet at local golf courses.
The hiking group encourages a slower pace, while covering 2-6 miles on a variety of terrains, from urban trails to moderate level dirt trails. Partners are welcome.
The group's focus is on culture and traditions in French-speaking countries. They use light conversation topics, casual French and everyday phrases. Join us no matter what your language level is! We meet every 3rd Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. (le troisième mercredi du mois à 14h) (Z)
We visit nurseries, local businesses and universities to learn how to garden in the Pacific Northwest. Meets the 4th Tuesday of the month.
The Movie Group meets on the 4th Tuesday of the month to attend a movie matinee followed by discussion of the film.
